Since 2017, I have offered a complete new lease of life to campervans by the way of full re-sprays. This came about by doing my own van projects in what now seems to have become my signature colour – Nato Green!  I then worked mobile for several years carrying out beautiful, yet very affordable re-sprays and travelled throughout the country with my trailer in tow. Of course, this only allowed me to work in the warmer months, and even that was weather permitting!

As of late 2021, I have set myself up with two lovely, spacious indoor workshops in rural Worcestershire (West Midlands) where I also have large, secure vehicle storage and parking enclosure. I am no longer at the mercy of the weather which makes what I already enjoy doing, an absolute dream!

As an added bonus, working from a fixed location has also given me the opportunity to have extra facilities such as two awesome 4 tonne vehicle lifts which allow me to do undersealing, welding and mechanical work – the list goes on!

My work is my passion, I treat it like a hobby and most customers turn into friends. When I worked mobile, I always encouraged the van owner/s to get involved and work alongside me. This created a unique learning experience because I am always happy to share my knowledge and when you’ve hand made your campervan, to be involved in the re-spray is the icing on the cake. As of 2021, working from a fixed location has made life easier, though it does mean the van owner generally drops the van off with me and collects in when it’s finished, rather than working with me. However, on occasions, this can possibly still be an option, especially for those living full time in their vans.

As with anything I do, my ethos is to do a superb job and be affordable. Traditional car bodyshops can be quite costly and many don’t have facilities big enough to spray a large van. A fair percentage of vans I spray are also people’s homes and as a van dweller myself, I appreciate the need for flexibility and to always cater for he needs of people who live in their vehicles.

Re-spray Colours & Finishes

You can actually have any colour you’d like. For a stealth campervan, the Nato Green and Camo Grey are a popular and great choice. Saying that, you can have bright yellow or even pink if you want to! For some, standing out and being different is the idea, so I most cetrainly can create the look you’re after. Two tone colour schemes are an option, though can be a fair bit more costly as the amount of time taken and additional paint is a big factor.

With the exception of only two re-sprays, everyone has opted for a satin finish (the other two went for gloss, however this is now a discontinued option). Satin is also known as semi-gloss. It’s got a similar look to Matt but with a pleasant and very well protecting sheen. Matt paint isn’t something I normally offer because it tends to stain easily. Most cars on the road are gloss and having something a little different makes the van look extra special. The satin finish is very good at prevening scratches for those who like to adventure off the beaten track. Light scratches tend to vanish when you wash the van! Every re-spray I’ve done has received compliments from passers by when the van’s parked up somewhere!

The paint I use is military grade (all colours and finishes), thus it is very durable and has corrosion inhibitor built into it. Ever wondered why military vehicles don’t seem to have rust?

I do have a colour chart (link below). This is a very vague guide though because ever computer/phone screen manufacturer displays colours differently. I can’t send physical samples out as I don’t stock paint; it is ordered and made fresh for every project. If you do buy a colour swatch online, look for one with RAL colours and let me know the colour code you’d like. Again, even printed colours do differ to the final vehicle finish! Charts are quite expensive if buying for a one-off use. I do have one and you are welcome to come and have a look and discuss options.

Another option is Raptor paint, if you’re looking for something seriously tough! Here’s the information on Raptor.

2023 Respray Costs

As a guide…

  • A small van (such as a Renault Kangoo / Citroen Berlingo size) is generally around £2750.
  • A middle sized van (such as Renault Trafic, VW T4/T5) is around £3000.
  • A larger van such as MWB Sprinter/Crafter, Renault Master, etc. is around £3350.
  • A long van such as LWB Sprinter/Crafter are around £3950.
  • Bodywork repairs prior to a re-spray: Such as dents, damage, rust, etc. is £350 per day, including basic materials.

These prices are a guide only as they can go up or down (yes, down!) depending on the existing base colour of the van, the number and type of windows fitted, what’s on the roof (such as solar panels), etc. and of course any changes in paint prices. For this reason, I will quote specifically for your van. Simply drop me an initial email detailing which van you have, what you’d like doing to it, when you’d hope to have it done, etc. and I’ll come back to you. Please give as much information as possible in the initial email.
