Blasting & Coating

Beyond The Van

Powder Coating

I actually offer something better than powder coating…

Powder coating has a major downside which is if the coating gets scored or if any hint of corrosion is under it, the coating soon comes off. Instead, I offer a much more durable coating:

Epoxy Coating

Epoxy coating is perfect for the renovation and protection of rusting and pitted steel exposed to severe environments. It will not flake, peel or blister – even under water. It resists oils, salt water and mechanical damage. It’s a tough penetrating coating that is more flexible than the steel itself. It does not contain any harmful isocyanates and it will resist temperatures of up to 200C before discolouration, and 350C before blistering.

How does it work?

I use a two component Epoxy coating composed of nanoscale corrosion protective pigments in short chain molecules with very low surface tension. This allows the coating to flow into all of the pits and troughs on the steel’s surface, ensuring a tough penetrating primary bond. This is the best kind of bond you can get. The high build Epoxy forms a super strong protective barrier over the corrosion inhibiting pigments that hug the steels surface. Excellent penetration and adhesion within a high build coating equals exceptional mechanical strength.

Shot Blasting

I have facilities at my workshop for shot blasting. This removes all corrosion, oxidation, etc. from alloy and steel. The perfect way to refurbish tatty vehicle parts (such as brake calipers, engine components, vehicle accessories, wheels, etc.) giving them a new lease of life ready for a long lasting Epoxy coating.

Wheel Refurbishing

The refurbishment of alloy and steel wheels are just one of many examples of what can be done by blasting and Epoxy coating. The range of things that can be brought back to life using this process is endless. Other popular items are brake calipers (which I can also rebuild for you), engine components, external accessories, etc.

Colours

For many items, black is ideal, however there are twelve standard colours to choose from. The full range or RAL, BS 381C and BS 4800 colours can be made especially though. Here are the twelve standard colours:

Pricing

Everything is priced individually. Cost depends on the size and intricty of the object.

I also offer the removal of tyres from wheels followed by refitting and balancing afterwards.
